CVS Shopping Trip - 8/8/2011
I was able to run by CVS this morning on my way to work to pick up the things on my list. I really wanted the Kettle Chips that were on sale but they were out so I guess I will try and stop by Wednesday or Friday on my way to work.
I spent $17.40 and received $3.00 to use next trip. I got 6 boxes of Rice Krispie Treats, 3 Fudge Stripe Cookies, 3 Fudge bars, 2 pkgs sour patch kids and a jumbo pack of size 3 diapers. I am working on stocking up for school snacks and lunches and the candy is for Christmas. If you do this make sure to check expiration dates. My items all have expiration dates at the end of February 2011.

ExtraCare Coupon Center AND Coupon Center on CVS.com
Scan your card before you shop. Print the coupons and save immediately.
You may notice a big red or yellow coupon machine when you walk into your CVS. When you scan your ExtraCare card at one of these coupon centers, a CVS store coupon based on your shopping habits will be presented to you. These coupons are randomly generated, so not every shopper at every store will get the same offers. Sometimes even ExtraCare Bucks will print out.
Please note that the coupons that print out of the machine will match up exactly to your shopper card. This prevents you from using someone else's and them using yours.
The coupon center on CVS.com allows you to pick and print coupons of your choice that are redeemable at any CVS location to help you save even more on your items.

CVS Coupon Policy: Straight from Customer Care
(thanks to mamacheaps.com for supplying us with this information)
Thank you for contacting CVS/pharmacy. Your e-mail has reached the Customer Relations Department. We appreciate the time you took to contact us with your inquiry. Our coupon policy is not available on our Web site. We reserve the right to change this policy at any time.
Our registers are set to allow 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. Free coupons or “offers at the register” (OAR’s) are unearned and issued to you as a valued member of the CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare program. These coupons take the form of “open ended” coupons such as $3 off $15 or a certain dollar amount off a specific item. In any given transaction our registers will allow only one “open ended” coupon per transaction. CVS Extra Buck coupons are earned when you make a qualifying purchase. These print out instantly at the register upon reaching the threshold for the offer. You can use more than one Extra Buck coupon provided the purchase threshold has been met for each offer amount on a per-transaction basis.
In the case where a particular item is on sale for “buy one get one free” (BOGO), you are only allowed to use one manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. For instance, if Revlon lipstick is on sale for BOGO, you can use one manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. You would get both items free and pay any applicable tax. We reserve the right to limit quantities after the first purchase. If our store is running a sale for BOGO, you can use two manufacturer’s coupons for a specific dollar amount off. For example, if Revlon lipstick is on sale at our store for BOGO, you can use two $1.00 off Revlon lipstick manufacturer coupons.
CVS/pharmacy does accept manufacturers’ coupons that have been obtained from manufacturer sponsored and/or authorized Web sites. The coupon should be complete and contain a bar code that can be scanned at the register. If the coupon does not scan, the cashier should politely inform you that we cannot accept your coupon. We do not allow manual overrides at the register for coupons printed from the Internet. CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized Internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles.
We do not accept competitors’ coupons for front store items. We feel that our sales and ExtraCare program are comparable if not better than any sales or coupons offered by our competitors. We also do not accept any expired coupons, CVS or otherwise. We do not “double” or “triple” coupons.
Again, thank you for contacting us. We value your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
Sincerely,
Korrine

CVS Shopping Tips - #2
Green bag tag
What is a Green bag tag?
This is a small tag made from a corn-based material - an annually renewable resource that can be purchased for $.99 at CVS and attached to a reusable bag.You can buy these in the store or online HERE. Sometimes they even offer these free with ECB's.
Why purchase a Green bag tag?
Every 4th visit you earn $1 ECB to use on your next visit, and you are helping to save our environment by not getting a plastic bag.
How do you use it?
Attach to a reusable bag, a plastic bag from a previous purchase or just hold it in your hand and use no bag at all. Have the cashier scan it each visit that you decline a plastic bag. After the 4th visit you will will receive an ECB for $1 which will print at the bottom of your receipt. After 4 visits the tag pays for itself. Please note that you must have an Extra Care card linked to the tag.
* NOTES - From cvs.com To earn Extra Bucks® for a transaction in-store, your ExtraCare® card, Green bag tag, and reusable bag must be presented with purchase at checkout. Limit of one Green bag tag use/scan per day per household. Every fourth purchase your Extra Bucks reward will print at the bottom of your cash register receipt as a $1 coupon good for your next purchase. Extra Bucks can be used until the expiration date shown on the coupon. Extra Bucks are not redeemable for alcohol, gift cards, lottery, money orders, prescriptions, postage stamps, pre-paid cards and tobacco products. Extra Bucks can only be used when presented in conjunction with the ExtraCare card associated with the rewards. CVS/pharmacy reserves the right to modify or terminate the Green bag tag program without notice. Green bag tag rewards cannot be earned with CVS.com® purchases.

CVS Shopping Tips - #1
For the next several days I will be sharing some great tips to get the most out of your shopping at your local CVS. I am very fortunate as I pass mine 3 days a week going to and from work and can stop by whenever. Sometimes I will even break my shopping up into several days to use the ECB's that I earned on the previous trip and to scan the Green Bag Tag more to accumulate my points faster. More on ECB's and Green Bag Tags later in the week.
This is the first and most important step to begin your CVS shopping.
Extra Care Card
If you’re going to shop at CVS, you’ll want to sign up for the CVS ExtraCare Rewards Card so that you can receive ExtraCare Bucks. Every non-prescription purchase you make earns you 2 percent in ECBs, credited to your ExtraCare account. At the end of each quarter, you’ll get the value in your account back as ExtraCare Bucks to use on a future purchase! And, as if that weren’t enough, you’ll also earn $1 for every two prescriptions filled using your ExtraCare card. Many other items sold at CVS will also produce an ECB when purchased, which you can find in your local ad circular.
The best way to use ExtraCare Bucks is to combine them with a great sale price, a CVS coupon and a manufacturer's coupon (also known as coupon "stacking”). You'll get an even better deal if you can “roll” your ECBs from one transaction into the next, eventually resulting in zero out-of-pocket expense.
Here's how it works:
First, scan your local ad circular to see which products will generate ECBs. For example, let’s say Crest toothpaste is on sale; purchase one tube for $2 and get $2 back in ECBs. Use those ECBs to pay for the next transaction - a second tube, which will generate $2 more in ECBs. And so on. To maximize savings, use the ECBs you earned from a transaction to buy something in a subsequent transaction. If you can pay for an item with ECBs, then get more ECB from the transaction, even better! Just remember, you must use your individual ECBs at one time. So, if you use a $2 in ExtraCare Bucks on a $1 purchase, you forfeit the extra $1.
Once you get your ExtraCare card go online and sign up for emails and get $4.00 off a $20.00 purchase.
To view your ExtraCare rewards, print Extra Bucks and to take advantage of convenient new online features, you will need to Sign Up for an online account, and follow the steps to Attach an ExtraCare card
If you already have a CVS.com account with an ExtraCare card attached, Sign In using your Email Address and Password. You will be able to view and print your ExtraCare rewards and access your ExtraCare account information.

Some things I do to save at the grocery store.
I am going to share some of the tips I use to help me save at the grocery store. Why not comment and share your ideas also.
1. Spend no more than $2.00 on a box of cereal
2. Spend no more than $2.00 on 32oz of laundry detergent
3. Spend no more than $1.99 lb for meat
4. Spend no more than $5.00 for 8pk papertowels
5. Spend no more than $5.00 for 12pk toilet paper
6. Spend no more than $1.00 for tube of toothpaste (full size)
7. Spend no more than $1.00 for dish liquid
8. Spend no more than $2.00 for body wash
9. Never pay full price for anything. Buy on sale, clearance and try to piggy back coupons with the sales.
10. Make weekly menu from what is on sale or what you have at home.
11. Combine shopping trips all in one day and in one local area to save on fuel. I also have the luxury of passing all the places I shop on my way to and from work
12. Get a stock pile going of items you use regularly so you never have to pay full price.
13. Don't be greedy! Take what you will use and share with others. I share mine with friends, and family
14. Don't waste money on paper napkins, use cloth
15. Buy fruits and vegs that are in season and from local farmers in possible.
16. Don't be brand particular. Compare prices from sales, coupons and store brands and buy the least expensive.
17.Don't buy just because it's a good deal, or just because you have a coupon. It's not a deal if it goes unused and wasted.
18.Buy less prepackaged foods and make more from scratch. Not only can this me cheaper but since you control the ingredients it tends to be healthier
19. Compare the prices of all the local stores. Keep a price book or know your prices off hand so you know when you are getting a good deal
20. Buy deli meats on sale only. Buy extra and freeze to use later.
21. Don't disregard your local drugstore (CVS,Riteaid, etc.) when it comes too food. Sometimes they have deals that will beat your grocery store.
